Conservation Status: Vulnerable

Size: Males are larger than females, height 2.5 to 3 feet. Tails up to 3 feet long. Weighs between 88-140 pounds,

Range: Southern half of Africa.

Habitat: Open grassy areas wiith scattered vegetation

Diet: Carnivorous; prefers to feed on small to medium sized mammals.

Breeding: Year round.

Nesting: Between 1-9 cubs born.

Notes: Known as the fastest cat on Earth, the cheetah can run as fast as 70-75 miles per hour.

Description & Behavior
The cheetah has a long slim body with long legs; Small head and ears, coloring varies from buff to a light grey; the underside is white. The cheetah has a pair of black lines running from the eyes down to the mouth. The cheetah's body is black spotted, tail is fluffy with bands of black and a tuft of hair at the end. Cubs are born with longer, white hair going down their backs that resembles a skunk stripe.
